Keppel Charity Golf 2008 successfully raised $350 000– thanks to the effort put in by members, volunteers, sponsors and staff. Deputy Prime Minister and Co-ordinating Minister for National Security, Professor S. Jayakumar graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour. Former Minister, S. Dhanabalan was also present to play in the charity golf game.

This year, generous sponsors and donors such as Temasek Holdings, Asia Pacific Breweries, PSA International, Singapore Totalisator Board, Far East Organisation and Wing Tai Holdings were again giving their full support towards the two-day annual event.

The Club was abuzz with activities on both days as staff and volunteers helped to raise more fund for charity. Members were having fun trying their luck with a spin on the ‘Keppel Flyer’. All walked away with at least one beer and a big smile.

The finale of this year’s Charity Golf was the gala dinner that was held in appreciation of our generous sponsors and donors as well as volunteers and staff. Cheques were also presented to the 10 beneficiaries during the dinner. The audience also heard from some of the representatives of organizations present when Hamish Brown, the emcee for the night, did a ‘live’ interview with them.
The highlight of the evening was the Raffle Draw with a 42-inch Hitachi 1.5, the world’s first ultra thin LCD TV as top prize. The Nokia-Telechoice Tree of Gifts was also lighted up during the evening. Chairman Fock Siew Wah generously donated back the hand phones he had won in this lucky draw to be auctioned off with proceeds going to charity. There was a bidding frenzy as many tried to get their hands on the latest hand phones that were up for grabs. Mohd. K Rafin came up tops, with a winning bid of $2000 to bring back a Nokia 8800 Arte.

We would once again like to thank all the sponsors, members, volunteers and staff for making this event a success.
