Golf and beer for an early start to the weekend
The perfect combination of golf and beer was the secret to the overwhelming response of our recent Golf & Beer Fest held on Oct 24, 2024. Organised by the Swimming & Entertainment Sub-Committee, the event was very well received by members and non-members. As shared by Swimming & Entertainment Convenor Bob Wong, “We have gotten very positive feedback from our participants. They are happy with the whole organisation – the beer, food and the price. Many of them have requested for us to do this more often.”
The day started with a round of 18-hole game at noon. The golfers were blessed with good weather and great company, and many of them gamely posed for photos at the request of our roving photographer.
By 6.30pm, the returning golfers were ready for round two. Kicking off the evening with a hearty buffet, participants were entertained by a two-piece band, Nick & Kylie, who serenaded the diners with their repertoire of English and Mandarin hits. In between, some participants were seen dancing to the music while others were moving around the tables to drink with their friends. Besides the live music, the night was punctuated with fun games that test the “lung power” of each contestant. Another game, the “Tug of War” saw two teams competing to “outdrink” their fellow participants.
Although it was a Thursday and a workday, our participants were not in a hurry to go home. Everyone had an intoxicating time, enjoying the food, the music and their love for golf and beer.
