When the dragon soars… discover the enchanting world of Shinobu whisky

Keppel Club kicked off the year with an extraordinary event that had whisky aficionados on the edge of their seats. On Jan 25, 2024, the Berlayer Room @ Tee Top played host to a captivating Shinobu whisky Masterclass. 

More than 60 members and guests gathered for an evening of whisky appreciation, paired with a sumptuous buffet dinner. 

The event provided the perfect opportunity for members to reconnect after the holidays. The highlight of the buffet was the smoked beef rib eye live station – a hot favourite among the diners.

Taking centre stage for the night was Mr Michael Sim, Head of Sales & Marketing at Shinanosea Pte Ltd, a company of SHIN Group Corporation, which specialises in the development and production of unique, high-quality alcoholic beverages.  

Mr Sim shared insights into the art of smelling the mizunara oak, a rare wood used to make cask barrels. The audience had the chance to experience the scent, as a sample of the mizunara oak was passed around the room. As the evening unfolded, six bottles of the dragon-series Shinobu whisky were put up for sale. They were quickly snapped up as these bottles were the only ones which bear the signature of Mr Tatsuya Usami, the second generation owner and master distiller of the Shinobu Distillery. Even after the sale, the excitement continues to linger in the air.

Expressing his gratitude, Tee-Top Restaurant’s F&B Manager Thomas Leong, shared, “It brings us great joy to see our members and guests embracing our whisky and wine appreciation-cum-dinners. We are thankful for their unwavering support and we are committed to make this a regular, cherished feature for them.”

Along with our previous whisky nights, the Shinobu Whisky Masterclass has ignited a spark of excitement within our Club, and showcased our dedication to present our members with many memorable experiences. Look forward to a calendar of extraordinary evenings in the months  to come.
